Plan your dive/dive your plan
Each diver is solely responsibility to ensure he/she possesses all the necessary skills, training, equipment and insurance required of ocean diving in the Northeast. Make sure before your dive all of your equipment is properly maintained, service and in perfect working order. This is your responsibility, and if you have any doubts, DO NOT DIVE. Ours is a wonderful sport, but not without risks. Your safety while diving is your responsibility, you are under your own care, custody and control while diving. ALL divers will be asked to fill out a waiver before departure. Please click HERE to review the waiver you will be signing.
Boat diving = limited space.
Make sure you have your gear packed properly and as compact as you can make it. On board space is always at a premium so please consider the other divers. Once your gear is loaded on-board, you will be asked to ensure your gearbox fits under your space on the bench. Oversized boxes, garbage can on wheels, large pelican cases, etc. will not be allowed on the boat. Please leave the big container in your car.
Redundancy is a MUST
All divers MUST dive with a pony or stage bottle with a separate regulator, including students. There will be no exceptions to this rule. We do have a small supply of rental pony bottles and regulators please see the rental section of this site. Rental equipment needs to be requested prior to the date of the dive.
Your link to the surface
Atlantic Spear & Scuba requires EACH diver to have a Submersible Marker Buoy and a dedicated finger spool or wreck reel, must have longer line than depth of water. To be used in an emergency only.
Each diver must have a whistle or other type of audible signaling device.
While wreck reels and dive lights, are not required, they are highly recommended. On any NIGHT DIVE, a primary and a back-up light are REQUIRED. We require all divers, regardless of planned dive depth, to make a 3-5 minute safety stop at 15 feet. Plan your dive accordingly.
We abide by all fish and game regulations, so before you take lobsters to the surface, or spear fish, please make sure they are of a legal size. There are no exceptions, and please don't kill it if your not gonna eat it. The crew or captain of the boat we use will have a complete briefing before we leave the dock. We require you pay strict attentions and be respectful during this briefing. It is for your safety and the safety of others on board.
Food & Drink
Each boat we use provides different level of amenities. As a general rule water is provided by the boat but we recommend you bring your own lunch. Coolers are provided on board so just brown bag your lunch, we will keep it cool once you arrive. It should be no surprise that drugs and alcohol and not allowed on any boat, NO EXCEPTIONS. All of our trips are NON-SMOKING.
Our goal is to dive the wreck or site as advertised, but if Mother Nature dictates, we may be forced to dive an alternate site. If that situation occurs, no refund or compensation will be awarded.
All divers must have the proper certification from an internationally recognized agency such as P.A.D.I., NAUI, SDI, SSI, etc. Unless otherwise noted, a certification level of ADVANCED or higher is required for all dives. If you are not in the Atlantic Spear & Scuba diver database, you will be asked to provide proof of certification before the trip date. If your certification status cannot been verified by the time of departure, you will be removed from the boat and your trip fees will NOT be refunded.
Please bring your “C” card
